Cooking Directions for Soup. Stovetop: Empty contents of one envelope Vigo Onion Soup and dip mix into medium saucepan. Gradually stir in 4 cups (32 oz) cold water and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Microwave: Empty contents of one envelope vigo onion soup and dip mix into 2-quart microwave-safe dish. Add 4 cups (32 oz) water; stir. Microwave on high (full power) for 12 minutes, uncovered, or until onions are tender. Microwave ovens may vary; adjust times as needed. For an elegant finish, float toasted brushette topped with shredded gruyere cheese (or other meltable cheese) over soup. Onion Dip Blend one packet Vigo Onion Soup & Dip Mix with 16 oz sour cream in a medium bowl. Chill 2-3 hours prior to serving. Serve with potato chips or vegetables (carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, celery, cucumbers, or peppers) Makes about 16 servings. Onion Mix Butter Make onion butter by combining 1 stick softened butter with one envelope onion mix. Use over cooked vegetables, roasted meats or popcorn.
