Servings: Servings: 1 Serving: 1/4 cup grits; 1-1/4 cups water; dash salt (optional) (for low sodium diets, omit salt). 4 Servings: 1 cup grits; 5 cups water; 1/4 tsp salt (optional) (for low sodium diets, omit salt). 6 Servings: 1-1/2 cups grits; 7-1/2 cups water; 1/2 tsp salt (optional) (for low sodium diets, omit salt). Stove Top: 1. Stir grits and salt into rapidly boiling water in heavy saucepan. 2. Simmer 5 to 7 minutes covered or until thickened, stirring occasionally. 3. Remove from heat. 4. Serve with margarine or butter, salt and pepper, or as hot cereal with milk and sugar. Microwave: Servings: 1: 1/4 cup grits; 1-1/4 cups water; dash of salt (optional) (for low sodium diets, omit salt). Microwave: 1. For 1 serving, combine water, salt and grits in a 2-cup microwaveable bowl. 2. Microwave on high 3 to 4 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally during last half of cooking. 3. Allow to stand 3 minutes. Stir before serving. Caution: Bowl and contents may be hot! Note: Microwaves vary in power.
