Safe Handling Instructions: This product was prepared from inspected and passed meat and/or poultry. Some food products may contain bacteria that could cause illness if the product is mishandled or cooked improperly. For your protection, follow these safe handling instructions. Keep refrigerated or frozen. Thaw in refrigerator or microwave. Keep raw meat and poultry separate from other foods. Wash working surfaces (including cutting boards), utensils and hands after touching raw meat or poultry. Cook thoroughly. Keep hot foods hot. Refrigerate leftovers immediately or discard. Cooking Instructions: Roasting Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Remove neck and giblets. 2. Rinse chicken inside and out with cold running water, pat dry with paper towels. 3. Sprinkle chicken inside and out with salt and pepper to taste. Place chicken, breast side up, on rack in shallow roasting pan. 4. Roast, uncovered, for 20 minutes per pound or until juices run clear and kitchen meat thermometer inserted in inner thigh registers at least 180 degrees F. Using a digital thermometer, cook to internal temperature of 180 degrees F to ensure fully cooked chicken. Appliances vary. Cooking times approximate. Adjust accordingly to ensure internal temperature reaches 180 degrees F. Keep refrigerated.
