Cooking Directions: 1. Stir grits with a whish and add salt into boiling water, return to boil. 2. Cover, reduce heat to low. 3. Cook three to five minutes, stirring occasionally. 4. Serve hot. Add butter and/or cheese to taste. *For a delicious variation use chicken broth instead of water for cooking. Microwave Directions: For 1 Serving: Combine 1-1/3 cups water and 1/8 teaspoon salt with 1/3 cup Grandma Betty's Yellow Grits in a 1-quart bowl. Microwave on high for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Let stand until desired consistency. 1 Serving: 1-1/2 cups water boiling water*; 1/3 cup grits; 1/8 tsp. salt (optional). 3 Serving: 4-1/2 cups water boiling water*; 1 cups grits; 1/2 tsp. salt (optional). 6 Servings: 9 cups water boiling water*; 2 cups grits; 3/4 tsp. salt (optional). 9 Servings: 13-1/2 cups water; 3 cups grits; 1 tsp. salt (optional). * For thinner grits, add water. For thicker, creamier grits, cook longer.
