Safe Handling Instructions: This product was prepared from inspected and passed meat and/or poultry. Some food products may contain bacteria that could cause illness if the product is mishandled or cooked improperly. For your protection, follow these safe handling instructions. Keep refrigerated or frozen. Thaw in refrigerator or microwave. Keep raw meat and poultry separate from other foods. Wash working surfaces (including cutting boards), utensils, and hands after touching raw meat or poultry. Cook thoroughly. Keep hot foods hot. Refrigerate leftovers immediately or discard. Planning: Allow one pound of whole turkey for each adult serving. Plan to serve the turkey 30 minutes after removing from the oven. Storing: Thaw frozen turkey, still in its bag, in the refrigerator. Allow 24 hours for every 7 pounds of turkey. Cook promptly after defrosting. Never refreeze a defrosted turkey. Roasting: Remove turkey from bag. Release the legs of turkey from oven-safe leg clamp. Free leg with upward motion. Remove the neck from the breast cavity and the giblets from neck cavity. Rinse the inside and outside of the turkey with cold water and drain. To hold legs in place during roasting, replace legs into clamp. Place the turkey in roasting pan. Add 1 cup of water to the roasting pan. Loosely cover with aluminum foil. For food safety reasons, we do not recommend stuffing your raw turkey. Optional: Lightly rub the outside of the turkey with a mixture of 1/2 cup of melted butter, 1/8 teaspoon of salt, and 1/6 teaspoon of pepper. Roast turkey using the following chart as a guideline: Weight: 8-12 lbs, Oven Temp.: 325 degrees F, Cooking Time (hours): 2 1/2-3; Weight: 12-14 lbs, Oven Temp.: 325 degrees F, Cooking Time (hours): 2 3/4-4; Weight: 14-18 lbs, Oven Temp.: 325 degrees F, Cooking Time (hours): 3 1/3-5; Weight: 18-20 lbs, Oven Temp.: 325 degrees F, Cooking Time (hours): 4-5; Weight: 20-24 lbs, Oven Temp.: 325 degrees F, Cooking Time (hours): 4-5 1/2; Weight: 24+ lbs, Oven Temp.: 325 degrees F, Cooking Time (hours): 5-7. Times will vary with type of oven. One hour before completion, remove the foil to brown the turkey. Turkey will be fully cooked when pop-up timer has popped. To ensure the turkey has reached a safe internal temperature of 165 degrees F, check by using a food thermometer inserted into the thickest portions of the breast, thigh, and wing joint. Remove turkey from the oven, cover with foil and let stand 15 more minutes. Release legs from the clamp. You are now ready to carve, serve, and enjoy a delicious Plainville Farms Turkey. Note: If the turkey is stuffed, be sure the stuffing reaches 165 degrees F. Keep frozen.
