Directions

Cooking Tips: 1. Spread out dry peas and remove any foreign particles. 2. Rinse peas in cold water. 3. Cover peas with 3-1/2 cups of fresh water, or other liquid such as beef, chicken, or vegetable stock. Add 1 lb of meat if desired. Options: ham hocks or ham bone. 4. Bring peas to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for about 30 minutes or until tender. Check water level and add hot water if necessary. Stir occasionally. 5. Salt and pepper to taste.
