Installation Instructions: 1. Locate the vehicle's low side service port. This port will often have a plastic cap and is located between the a/c compressor and the evaporator. It is the only port to which the recharge hose will connect. This is self-sealing can and requires a recharge hose made for self-sealing cans. We recommend the Avalanche Part No. AVL402CS Recharge Hose with Smart Clips for correct fill. Always follow the instructions from the device to properly charge. 2. Start the engine and turn air conditioner to maximum cool and maximum air flow. Close passenger compartment. 3. Tighten the recharge hose to the top of the Avalanche can by turning it clockwise. Make sure it is firmly attached. Connect the quick connect coupler on the other end of the hose to the low side service port by pulling the connector ring back as you push the fitting onto the service port. Make use it locks into place. Do not overcharge/Do not vent. 4. Following the instructions on your recharge device, hold can upright to charge. Add refrigerant while fully rotating the can from a 12 o'clock to 3 o'clock position, continually agitating (sweeping) can back and forth. If your system is very low in refrigerant this process can take several minutes. While slightly increasing your RPM check vent temperature often with passenger compartment closed. Remove quick-connect coupler from service port. Never place refrigerant can on hot engine part. 5. When you have the correct fill and your air conditioner is blowing cold. stop charging. Remove the charging hose from the service port and store can in a cool, dry place or discard according to state or local guidelines.
