Fresh brewed intelligence: Keep your brewing equipment spotlessly clean. Use freshly roasted coffee. Use a burr grinder on the correct setting for your brew method or coffee maker. Rinse filters to avoid a papery taste in your coffee. Use freshly drawn filtered or bottled water. Use a proper ratio of coffee to water: 1 part coffee to 16 parts water or 2 tablespoons per 6 ounce cup. Brew with water just off the boil (205-210 degrees Fahrenheit).
