The Gavilan Mountain Range is home to the Chalone Appellation, a remote vineyard area rooted in unique volcanic soils. These soils, underlain by limestone and granite, resemble those in France's Cote d'Or, and inspired the founders of the Chalone Vineyard to craft a legacy of Burgundian-style wines. Gavilan carries on this tradition with a primary focus on Chalone Vineyards Dijon, vineyard plantings from the 1990s. The result is a Chardonnay that offers an early drinking expression of the Chalone appellation, with fresh citrus aromas, lush fruit flavors, and graceful balance upon release.
