Frequently Asked Questions: Q) Can I use this device without using the instructions or the Smart Chip? Yes you can use the trigger to charge refrigerant into your vehicle. The device will display pressure readings if you do not use the Smart Chip. Note: Pressure is for reference only and is not the recommended use for recharge. Why Charge By Temperature? Modern A/C systems are complex and use control strategies that cause the A/C system's low-side pressure to vary, which makes charging by pressure confusing and unreliable. Vent temperature provides a more accurate indication of the system's cooling performance. Utilizing vent temperature to recharge reduces the risk of overcharging or undercharging, ensuring optimal A/C performance and passenger comfort. Q) Why did I lose the vent temperature signal? Remove the battery protective tabs before use. Ensure the Smart Chip is turned on and within range (10 ft) of the trigger unit. Once on, you should see a red indicator light on the Smart Chip next to the power button. Q) What does it mean if I get a Seek Service message? AC systems may stop functioning for multiple reasons including low refrigerant, compressor, condenser or evaporator issues and electrical problems. If you receive a Seek Service message while recharging, the trigger unit senses little to no change in temperature or lack of low side pressure indicating issues unrelated to refrigerant levels. If you receive this message, please visit your nearest professional service center. Q) Why is the can getting colder while recharging? This is completely normal and is an indication that refrigerant is being properly charged into your system. If you do not notice this cooling effect, please check all and low side service port connections. Q) What if I empty a can and I have not yet achieved the desired temperature? This can happen, if your system was very low or requires more refrigerant than one can's volume, you may need more. Simply purchase a second "refill" can and restart the recharge process. If you notice no change in vent temperature and you have reached temperature target, you may stop to avoid over-charging. Q) Why doesn't the coupler fit on the low side service fitting? Vehicles use different refrigerants and have different low side service port fittings. Ensure you have purchased the correct refrigerant by checking the label under the hood. Q) Why is nothing coming out when I pull the trigger? Ensure the can is not empty and the trigger is properly secured on to the can. Screw on the trigger until you feel resistance and stop.
