After every third or fourth saw chain sharpening, check the height of the saw chain depth gauges by placing the Depth Gauge Tool on the saw chain cutters near the midpoint of the chainsaw guide bar. 2. If a saw chain depth gauge extends above the slot in the Depth Gauge Tool, file it until it is level with the Tool. 3. File the leading edge of depth gauges until they are round (Not necessary for Oregon 72, 73, 75V chain).
