Lutein - 5mg - 5mg. Zeaxanthin - 1mg - 1mg. Vision Shield® is based on an AREDS2-type formula with a moderate level of zinc and the Vitamin A (beta-carotene) replaced with lutein and zeaxanthin. The AREDS was a multi-center clinical trial supported by the National Eye Institute (NEI), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Building upon AREDS results, AREDS2 evaluated additional formula combinations including lutein and zeaxanthin.
