Directions: Servings: 1; 1/4 cup oats; 1 1/2 cups water. Servings: 4; 1 cup oats; 4 cups water. Stovetop: 1. Boil water. 2. Slowly stir in oats. 3. Cook about 5 minutes over medium heat (or until oatmeal begins to thicken). 4. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes. *Steel cut oats are best prepared on the stovetop. Microwave preparation is not recommended. Overnight slow cooker recipe. 1 cup steel cut oats; 2 cups of your favorite dried fruit; 4 cups water; 1/2 cup half and half. In a slow cooker, combine all ingredients and set to low heat. Cover and let cook for 8 to 9 hours. Stir and serve. Serves 4.
