Its pyramid shape was especially designed to accommodate this larger tea leaf style. American Classic - Our Original Tea: When the Charleston Tea Garden first opened in 1987, we needed a name for the wonderful tea produced there. We decided on American Classic. We felt then, and still feel now, that that's what this tea garden represented - an American Classic. Over many years now, American Classic tea's fresh, smooth flavor has made it a southern favorite whether served hot or iced. Today the Charleston Tea Garden offers a variety of teas, each made with 100% tea produced in the garden. They bring many distinctive and deliciously different flavors to your tea cup. Our History: Over 100 years ago, tea planters brought their finest ancestral tea bushes from China and India to Wadmalaw Island near the historic old city of Charleston, South Carolina. Now the direct descendants of these very plants have been lovingly restored to their former grandeur here at the Charleston Tea Garden, a lush subtropical tea farm. The garden is open to the public seven days a week. It's very educational. You'll learn how tea is made.
