For many years oak casks used for maturing American Bourbon have been shipped down the rivers of America and across the sea to Scotland where they have been reused to mature Scotch whisky. To celebrate a long and fruitful collaboration this Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whisky has spent nineteen years slowly maturing in American oak casks previously used to mellow fine Bourbon Whiskey. Brian Kinsman, the Glenfiddich Malt Master and only the sixth in our history since the Distillery was built in 1886, has personally selected the Glenfiddich Scotch Whiskies used to create this exclusive Glenfiddich Bourbon Cask Reserve, the second in our Glenfiddich Age of Discovery range. Tasting Notes: Nose: Warm, crunchy toffee and deep citrus notes, marmalade on toast and a whiff of a fine old orange liqueur, are balanced by dry almost smoky notes of oak tannin. Taste: Overall complex and layered, developing over time, especially with the addition of a little water. Light tannins underpin rich notes of vanilla pod, fine leather and Havana Tobacco, the whole developing a sweet, velvety mouth feel enhanced by spicy hints of cardamom and nutmeg fading very slowly into a warm and delightfully long finish. Colour: A vibrant living gold - fields of autumn barley. The Mississippi - Father of all Rivers. Grand rapids. www. glennfiddich.com.
