Avoid unnecessary contact time between cleaner and surface/item being cleaned. Keep cleaner in original container at all times. Store in cool, dry place. Keep container sealed when not in use. White clothing/fabrics: do not use on colored fabrics. To remove rust and iron stains add 1/2 cup of cleaner to water in washing machine. Add clothes and start wash/rinse cycle. Do not use with detergent or bleach. To remove rust stains from colorfast fabrics, use Whink® rust stain remover. Dishwashers/washing machines: add 1/2 cup of cleaner to empty machine. Run machine through normal cycle using only water. Repeat for badly rust stained machines. Sinks, tubs, tile: dampen stained surface with clean water. Apply cleaner to wet cloth and rub lightly. For deep stains, allow cleaner to remain for five minutes. Rinse thoroughly. Toilet bowl and water reservoir: remove any chemical or deodorant from bowl or reservoir. Flush and fill with clear water. Add 1/2 cup of cleaner to water in bowl. Scrub stained area with brush. Let stand one hour. Flush. For reservoir, add 1/2 cup to water in reservoir. Let stand for 2 hours or overnight. Flush toilet three times. Concrete, brick, stone: dampen stained surface with clean water. Dissolve 1 cup of cleaner in 1 gallon of warm water, using plastic pail. With soft brush, apply cleaner to surface being cleaned. Allow cleaner to stand 5-10 minutes. Scrub until stain disappears. Rinse thoroughly. Boats, RVs: same as concrete above. Painted metal siding: same as concrete except test on small area to be sure paint does not peel due to age, etc. Dishes, glassware: dissolve 1/4 cup of cleaner in 1 gallon of warm water. Soak dishes for 15 minutes or until rust stains are gone. Rinse thoroughly. Water softeners: (1) Automatic with brine tank - for initial cleaning, dissolve 1 cup of cleaner in 1 gallon of cold water, using plastic pail. Pour into brine tank just prior to normal regeneration time. (2) Manual softeners - prior to initial cleaning, backwash in usual manner. Close inlet and outlet valves. Remove cover and open valve to drain 2-3 gallons of liquid. Dissolve 1 cup of cleaner in 1 gallon of cold water, using plastic pail. Pour into softener. Let stand 1 hour. Add salt and regenerate as usual. After regeneration, test water at cold water faucet nearest softener to see that water has salt-free taste. For periodic cleaning, follow directions above but use 1/2 cup of cleaner in 1 gallon of cold water. For areas with heavy iron staining, increase amount of cleaner and/or frequency of cleaning.
