Stove top directions. 1 Heat potatoes, sauce mix, 1 2/3 cups hot water, 1 cup milk and 2 tablespoons margarine or butter just to a boil in 2-quart saucepan, stirring occasionally (watch carefully to avoid boilover). 2. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 16 to 18 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender (sauce will thicken as it stands). High altitude (3500-6500 ft): Oven: For 1 box, increase boiling water to 2 1/4 cups and bake time to about 22 min. For 2 boxes, increase boiling water to 4 1/3 cups and bake time to about 24 min. Stove-top: Increase simmer time to 18-20 min. Refrigerate leftovers. You will need. 2 cups boiling water. 1/2 cup milk. 2 tablespoons margarine or butter. Stir potatoes, sauce mix, boiling water, milk and margarine in 1 1/2-quart casserole. 2. Bake uncovered about 20 minutes or until tender (sauce will thicken as it stands). Refrigerate leftovers. Baking tips: For 2 boxes, double all ingredients; bake in 3-qt casserole about 25 min. Bake potatoes and roast meat at same time: 325 degrees F about 55 min; 350 degrees F about 45 min; 375 degrees F about 40 min.
