Just add water. Bread machine directions included. Bacon cheddar bread: Stir in 1/2 cup crumbled, crisp cooked bacon with 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese when adding bread mix to the yeast. (Tip: use real bacon bits for more convenience!). Follow remaining steps. Stir-ins may add 5 to 10 minutes of extra baking time. Bread machine directions: Add the ingredients to the bread machine pan in the order on back of carton or as suggested by the manufacturer. Set machine for basic, rapid or delayed cycle and medium/normal crust color setting for a 1-1/2 pound loaf. Included: bread mix, yeast. What you need: 1 cup very warm tap water. Easy as stir, shape, rise and bake! Real simple directions. 1. Stir: combine yeast and bread mix in a large bowl; stir to combine. Add 1 cup very warm tap water (120 degrees to 130 degrees F). Tip: yeast thrives in warm water, not hot, so avoid the microwave and simply use tap water. Stir with a spoon until a ball forms (dough may be stiff). In the same bowl, use your hands to flatten the dough, then fold in half. Continue to flatten and fold a total of 10-20 times. If dough is sticky, add a sprinkle of flour. 2. Shape & rise: cover bowl with a towel or plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes. Dough will rise, but will not double in size. Use your hands or a spatula to carefully transfer the dough from the bowl to a greased baking sheet. Gently form dough into a 6-inch round or 8 x 4-inch rectangular loaf. You can also form a 12-inch baguette. Tip: for a better rise, don't pat down the top of the loaf. If desired, make 3 cuts (about 1/4 inch deep) with a sharp knife across the top for a more decorative loaf. 3. Bake: place baking sheet in a preheated 400 degrees F oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove and place on wire rack. Let cool 5 to 10 minutes before serving. High altitude adjustments: (over 5000 feet): follow directions using 2 tablespoons less water. Let loaf rise 18 minutes (it will not double in size). Bake at 425 degrees F. Do not eat raw dough.
