Hogue Reserve Wine Merlot

Description

The majority of Washingtonís wine grapes are planted east of the Cascade Range in the Columbia Valley appellation, which encompasses the Yakima Valley and Walla Walla appellations. The Columbia Valley covers 18,000 square miles and provides a huge range of geographical and climatic conditions for grape growing. Hogue Cellars wine is made with grapes that have intense fruit flavors and high natural acidity, which is why it is one of the most recognized names in Washington wines. The Reserve Columbia Valley Merlot underwent malolactic fermentation in barrel and spent 18 to 22 months aging. This merlot is rich and weighty with great structure, nicely integrated oak, and flavors of black cherry, raspberry, vanilla, and a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg. Pair with grilled steak, lamb stew, or curried lentils and wild rice.
