The majority of Washingtonís wine grapes are planted east of the Cascade Range in the Columbia Valley appellation, which encompasses the Yakima Valley and Walla Walla appellations. The Columbia Valley covers 18,000 square miles and provides a huge range of geographical and climatic conditions for grape growing. Hogue Cellars wine is made with grapes that have intense fruit flavors and high natural acidity, which is why it is one of the most recognized names in Washington wines. The Genesis Columbia Valley Syrah was inoculated for malolactic fermentation and aged for a year in American and French oak barrels, with 25% new oak. This syrah has white pepper, blackberry, and caramel aromas, with spicy, toasty notes and chocolate-covered dried cherries on the palate. Pair with lamb shanks, grilled sausage, or spinach and mushroom lasagna.Warnings
