750 ml

Product Details

Established 1912. Foot Trod: Basket pressed. Australia's first families of wine. Since 1912 the Osborn family have tended vineyards in Mclaren Vale, South Australia. Today fourth generation family member Chester makes distinctive wines using traditional methods both in the vineyard and the winery. Walking the vineyard rows and tasting grapes, Chester determines the ideal picking time for each individual vineyard. Small batches of grapes are gently crushed and then transferred to open fermenters. Foot treading is undertaken two thirds of the way through fermentation, the wine is basket pressed and transferred to a mixture of new and old French oak to complete fermentation and mature for 12 months. At a time when Grenache was considered unfashionable, Chester acquired many old bush vine, overgrown and abandoned vineyards. These vineyards still have a slightly dishevelled appearance, but they are producing very low yields of exceptional fruit. darenberg.com.au. obcwines.com. Alc 14.5% by vol. 29 Wine of Australia.
