Directions
Exposure: It is important that the rain gauge has correct exposure to insure accuracy. Place as far away from tall buildings and trees as possible. Low bushes, fences or walls near the rain gauge are acceptable as they usually help break up the force of the wind. Installation: The Taylor rain gauge may be installed on a post by using appropriate length screws (not included) in the holes provided in the mounting the bracket. For ground installation, insert the pointed end into the ground to the level of the rain gauge base. Do not allow to freeze. For use with lawn sprinkler: The rain gauge should be placed in the lawn or garden in a vertical position with top of the funnel level and the base resting on the lawn about halfway between the sprinkler unit and the outer edge of the watering pattern. Care: Clean the gauge with mild soap and water. Do not use solvents or abrasives. Measuring and recording water: As a guide to measuring water, read the scale at the level of water in the gauge. Each graduation on the English or inch scale represents 1/10th of an inch of water. On the metric scale each graduation represents 2mm of water. For levels between graduations an accurate estimate can be made.
