Guideline for Use in Pressure Treated Lumber: Senco’s exterior finish screws have been tested for use in pressure treated lumber including ACQ. Due to the wide range of chemical compositions and formulations in many different kinds of pressure treated lumber, Exterior finish screws may not be preferred in all circumstances. To avoid premature corrosion, staining, streaking and/ or breakage in all situations and/or best results, use Senco’s stainless screws. Guidelines for use of Senco’s Exterior finish screws in pressure treated lumber. 1. Follow all recommendations and instructions from the wood manufacturer. 2. Use only dry seasoned wood (minimum seasoning period of two weeks after purchase). 3. Do not use wood with excessive wet chemicals or liquid chemicals on the surface. 4. Use in wood with actual chemical retention levels suitable for above-ground applications only. 5. Perform immediate and periodic inspections of screws after installation. 6. Do not use in an environment with corrosive elements such as ocean salt water, in or near large bodies of water, fumes industrial zones, acid rain, etc. 7. Do not use in combination with certain types of corrosive wood (such as cedar, mahogany, redwood, etc). 8. Understand the corrosive potential of the pressure treated lumber you are using and environment you are putting it in. If uncertain, use Senco’s stainless steel screws.
