We attribute these balanced characteristics to the idyllic maritime climate and quality soils shared by the three regions these grapes come from. While not equally well-known, neighboring Solano, Lake, and Napa Counties are all home to fertile land and sunny days buffered by a cool sea breeze. The Emmolos, my maternal relatives, immigrated from Sicily to Napa in 1923 and have continued to farm as a livelihood ever since. My grandfather Frank Emmolo lives on that same land today, where we often enjoy lunches together with a glass of sauvignon blanc. While Napa County has been home to my family for generations, it's exciting to explore new territory. - Jenny Wagner.
