Why Test for LH Surge? Your two most fertile days begin with the LH surge. Therefore, you are most likely to become pregnant if you have intercourse within 24-36 hours after you detect your LH surge. LH Surge: The presence of two similar pink lines means you have detected your LH surge. The test line may be darker than the reference line. No LH Surge: The presence of one line, or two lines with the test line lighter than the reference line, indicates that you have not yet reached your LH surge. Things to Know About Testing Early - Some pregnant women may not have detectable amounts of the pregnancy hormone in their urine on the day they use the test. The amount of pregnancy hormone increases as pregnancy progresses. In laboratory testing, First Response detected the pregnancy hormone levels in 76% of pregnant women 5 days before their expected period, in 96% of pregnant women 4 days before their expected period, in greater than 99% of pregnant women 3 days before their expected period, in greater than 99% of pregnant women 2 days before their expected period, in greater than 99% of pregnant women 1 day before their expected period and in greater than 99% of pregnant women on the day of their expected period. Important note regarding negative results: Some pregnant women will not be able to detect HCG in their urine 5 days before the expected period. If you test negative before your missed period, but think you may still be pregnant, you should retest again in a few days after your missed period. All results should be confirmed by your health care provider, especially when making decisions about future medical care. Important note regarding positive results: because this test detects low levels of hCG, it is possible that this test may give positive results even if you are not pregnant. If you test positive, but think you may not be pregnant, you should check with your doctor. Easy Guide: Please read detailed instructions inside before testing (in English and Spanish): Ovulation Test: Use test in purple foil. 1. When to Start Ovulation Test?: Length of Cycle (Days): Using the first day of bleeding or spotting as Day 1, count forward the following number of days to begin testing: 26, 9; 27, 10; 28, 11; 29, 12; 30, 13. See insert for complete chart of all cycle lengths. 2. Test: Hold the tip of the test in urine for 5 seconds. 3. Wait 5 minutes. 4.
