Gluten free. Dark over 12 yo - The rum master. The spirits business master. Aged 15 years. Aged in charred oak barrel. Blended from rums distilled and barreled prior to 2003. Nelson's Blood: At the Battle of Trafalgar on October 21st, 1805, Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson engaged the combined fleets of Spain and France. His flagship was HMS Victory. Although outnumbered, he sank or captured 17 of the enemy's ships to not a single loss of his own. This victory still lives as one of the greatest in the annals of naval warfare. Unfortunately, Nelson was mortally wounded and died not knowing that victory was his. Legend has it that to preserve his body for the long passage back to England, that it was placed into a large cask of Pusser's Rum. Upon arrival, when the cask was opened, his pickled body was removed, but the jack tars had drilled a small hole at the base of the cask through which they drained most of the rum, thereby drinking of Nelson's Blood. Since then, the term Nelson's Blood has become synonymous with Pusser's Rum, and is still in wide use today. Aged 15 Years: The Royal Navy Admiralty approved blend of Pusser's Aged 15 Years is heavily influenced by rum from the double wooden pot stills of Port Mourant, Guyana, which have been in production since 1732. The Green-heart staves of these historic stills provide flavour compounds incomparable to those of modern metal stills, giving way to an unparalleled and authentic drinking experience. Additionally, the blend is aged to perfection in charred oak barrels for 15 years. A remark-ably smooth, highly decorated spirit best enjoyed neat. The Original Royal Navy Rum: Pusser's Rum blends, bottles and distributes the original Royal Navy Rum. The blend is prepared in strict accordance to Admiralty specifications. For over 300 years, from 1655 until July 31st, 1970, Great Britain's Royal Navy issued a daily rum ration to the sailors on board its ships. The daily ration was known as the tot, and its issue and the ritual that went with it was one of the longest unbroken traditions in the history of the sea. The rum used was a special rum called Navy or Admiralty Rum, or Pusser's, being a corruption of the word Purser, the officer on board ship who kept the ship's stocks and was responsible for the daily issue of the tot of rum - two before battle and after victory! Life at sea in the 15th century could make or break a man - or woman for that matter - with its high-stakes adventures and hair-raising brawls. Since the days of wooden ships & iron men. Pusser's Rum is the single malt of rum and is one of the worlds top 10 premier rums. - Nick Passamore, Forbes Magazine. Nose: Classic demerara sugar, molasses, dried fruits, island spices and caramel. Body: Full and round. Finish: Warm, smooth, long and memorable. True aged - not a solera.
