The P Trap is easy to install into your wall-connected sink drain system. Installation Hint: Since it traps items that may fit into the drain and blocks gases from the waste drain system, water and dirt will be present in the existing trap. Place a bucket under the old trap before attempting to remove it. Solvent Weld Procedure: Note: Do not solvent weld any parts until all parts have been test-assembled. 1. Important: Ask your retailer for the proper solvent weld cement. 2. Clean all foreign matter from both mating parts. 3. Be sure schedule 40-stub out is cut off square. Tools Needed: Pope wrench (to remove old brass trap). Instructions: 1. Turn off water at the tap. 2. Remove old P Trap. 3. Remove nut A from inlet of J Bend and select 1-1/4 inch x 1-1/2 inch or 1-1/2 inch washer B or C to fit tailpiece. 4. Remove nut D from J Bend and slide complete length of wall tube. 5. Assemble wall tube to J Bend. 6. Place the Marvel Connector on the Schedule 40 stub-out. 7. Put nut A and washer on tailpiece and place tailpiece in J Bend. 8. Place nut E and washer on the wall tube. 9. Install wall tube in Marvel Connector and tighten nut E (if necessary, disconnect tap at nut D to adjust wall tube in and out J Bend up and down or swivel left or right). 10. Mark the wall tube at point S. 11. Set trap aside. 12. Solvent weld Marvel Connector to the plastic pipe stub-out. 13. Post on wall bend in Marvel Connector and J Bend with tailpiece. 14. Hand tighten A, D and E securely. Run water to test for leaks. Note: If connecting to a 1-1/4 inch wall connection, purchase a 1-1/2 inch x 1-1/4 inch Reducer Coupling (Ace no. 4224044) and see instructions. Note: These parts are designed for a hand-tight installation. Pipe thread compound is not required.
