All of us live by some form of belief, a code if you will. Codes determine how we live, often defining who we are and what we do. For those who love the ocean and want to preserve the beauty in its depths and along its shoreline there is Eco-Blu. Eco-Blue is an urgent call to those who believe preserving our ocean and marine life is paramount to the health of our planet. Eco-Blue is for those who believe we are all responsible to do our part. Eco-Blu is not just a product. It is an awareness campaign urging everyone to help protect and clean the ocean that is under siege by pollutants, particularly sea plastic which is destroying our ocean, sea life, and once pristine beaches at an alarming rate. This problem can no longer be ignored. The encouraging part is that we do not have to be well trained to respond to the call of the ocean. We simply need to make better choices and simply do what we can. Together we can make a difference. 8 million+ tons of plastic are dumped into the ocean every year. A study found 20,658 pieces of debris washed upon to the Hawaiian islands. 400+ years for plastic to decompose but never completely decomposes because most plastics are not biodegradable. By the year 2050 plastic will outweigh fish worldwide if drastic measures are not taken. 100,000 marine animals are killed by plastic debris annually, as well as millions of birds. 7 out of 10 most common objects that wash ashore worldwide are made of plastic. Plastic debris finds itself in massive garbage patches that circulate throughout the Atlantic & Pacific Oceans. 70% of the oxygen we breathe is produced by marine plants. Eco-Blu Commentary: It is our hope to one day produce affordable dive gear made entirely of biodegradable material. Until then, we exhort everyone to join us in reducing the use of plastic products, particularly plastic use in packaging. Those of take this product home with you or further use or simply pass it forward to a fellow beach goer. Eco-Blue Tips: Use biodegradable sunscreens and defogging agents and mask cleaners; Avoid sunscreens with Benzophenone-3 and 4-methylbenzulidine Camphor; Glycerin soap, toothpaste or baby shampoo make great dive mask cleaners & defoggers.
