78% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Chateau Recougne Is a 66 hectares (165 acre) estate situated on the border of Fronsac, just west of Libourne. It has been in Xavier Milhade’s family now for four generations. The vineyards are planted on iron-rich clay, soils producing firm, long-lived wines. The grapes are vinified traditionally and matured in small tanks for two years before bottling. One of the most renowned properties of the appellation, Recougne is elemental, essential Bordeaux Superieur with a complexity and depth of flavor that confirms its privileged terroir. Delicious young, this wine is deceptively age-worthy and good vintages from the 1950’s and 60’s are still vibrant and full of life.Warnings
