When I first saw Schongauer's engraving of St Anthony being tormented by devils, the image stuck with me. Years later I found out that some consider St Anthony the father of monasticism. Monks have produced great been for centuries. So, if there was no St Anthony, we probably wouldn't have such great Trappist ales today, and that would truly be a life of torment. Our Torment is a rich beer with lots of caramel, malt, dark fruit, and dark Belgian candi sugar notes.
