Other Description

Did you know? Indoor levels of pollutants may be two to five times higher than outdoor levels, and indoor air quality ranks as one of the top five environmental risks to public health. A Filtrete filter can help clean the air in your home by reducing particles (from the air passing through the filter) that can contribute to poor indoor air quality, and maintain proper airflow. Filter performance. The Microparticle Performance Rating (MPR) represents the effectiveness of a filter at capturing the smallest airborne particles, and this filter receives a rating of 1500. To calculate the MPR, 3M measures particle data between 0.3 and 1 micron, because 99% of the number of particles in the typical atmosphere are smaller than one micron and this size range is considered the most difficult to capture. Electrostatic filters are most effective when new and clean. The MPR is calculated based on independent laboratory testing. Pleated 3-month filters (Performance ranges from 160-430). Washable filters (Performance ranges from 20-200). Fiberglass filters (Performance ranges form 50-60). Non-electrostatic filters. How often should I change my filter? For cleaner air, this filter should be changed at least every three months. Changing your filter more frequently makes your system run more efficiently. Certain conditions in your home will significantly add particles to the air. This will cause the filter to capture more particles than usual, shortening its life to less than three months or reducing the effectiveness of the filter to capture particles. These conditions include: Dirty ductwork. Sanding projects. Burning candles. Construction work. Pets. Tobacco smoke. Fireplace and wood-burning stove smoke. Also, running your furnace or air conditioning fan continuously will help clean the air in your home but could further shorten the life of the filter. So, if you use a Filtrete filter under these conditions, it could begin to restrict airflow, especially in energy efficient furnace and air conditioning systems. If these conditions exist, change your filter more frequently. Take our product survey at www.filtrete.com. Filtrete®. High performance filter. Change filter on. Filter size.
