Cooking directions. Basmati rice. Stove top: rinse rice well. Bring specified amount of water to a boil. Add rice and stir. Boil again, lower heat, and cover. Simmer for required time or until all the water has been absorbed. Stir to fluff. Remove from heat and allow to stand for 5 minutes. Stir before serving. Minutes to cook. Servings: 2 servings - Rice: 1/2 cup - Water: 1 cup - Stove: 15 - Micro: 9-10. Servings: 4 servings - Rice: 1 cup - Water: 2 cups - Stove: 15 - Micro: 12. Entire box 6 servings - Rice: box - Water: 3 cups - Stove: 15 - Micro: 12-15. 1/4 cup dry rice yields about 3/4 cup prepared. Microwave: rinse rice well. Combine hot water and rice in a 1 or 2 quart microwaveable casserole dish. Cover and cook on high for required time. Stir. Let stand covered for about 5 minutes until most of liquid is absorbed and rice is tender. Stir. Serve. (Microwave ovens vary; cooking time is approximate.). Optional: for richer flavor, add 1/2 tbsp butter per 1 cup of dry rice.
