Product Details
Outer banks style seafood seasoning. Batchelor Bay is located in Albemarle Sound which is the eastern boundary of Bertie County. This was the location of the 1864 Battle of Batchelor Bay between the iron clad CSS Albemarle and seven Union warships. The Battle was considered a draw with both sides sustaining major damages. The iron clad was damaged to the point that only by throwing the ship's stores of butter, lard and bacon into the boiler was it possible for the crew to raise enough steam for the vessel to return to Plymouth, its home port. Today, the waters are much more calm but the appreciation of kitchen staples to keep a lively gathering “a float” remains. Fish, and if you're lucky, blue crabs are available seasonally from these waters and are celebrated with fish fries and crab boils for hungry neighbors and guests.
