Smith's 6 Inch DualGrit Fine Whetstone

1 whetstone

Directions

Sharpening Instructions: 1. Put a small amount of Smith's Honing Solution (or any light oil or water) on the surface of your stone and spread it around to cover the sharpening surface. (Fig. 1) 2. Place your knife blade flat on the end of the stone. Raise the back of your knife blade to an approximate 23 degrees angle. (Fig. 2) 3. Push the blade away from you like you are trying to cut a thin slice off the top of the stone. As you push, pull the knife blade across the stone all the way out to the tip of the blade. (Fig. 3) Repeat this stroke three or four times. Keep hands/fingers away from knife blade while sharpening or injury may occur. Note: Use moderate pressure when pushing the blade away from you; let the stone do the work. Try to maintain the same degree of angle with each stroke. This is the key to obtaining the sharpest edge. 4. Sharpen the other side of the blade by placing your blade across the opposite end of the stone. Repeat steps 2 and 3, but pull the blade towards you this time instead of pushing the blade away from you. (Fig. 4) 5. Continue sharpening both sides of your blade as instructed until knife is sharp. Care and Storage: Always wipe off the stones' surface after use and before storing. Occasionally, clean the surface with soapy water and a mild brush.
