How to Carve a Perfect Pumpkin! Please read and follow all instructions. Kids, remember to have an adult help you carve your pumpkin. Get Ready: Choose the stencil. Fold the stencil page along the perforation and carefully tear the page from the book. Easily push and pop-out the shaded areas of the stencil. 1. Start: Cut a wide circle around the pumpkin stem with a saw. We recommend using the pumpkin pro colossal carver (sold separately). Push saw gently to break pumpkin skin - do not stab or jab. Pull the cut lid off the pumpkin by the stem. Do not use the saw to pry off lid. We also recommend using the Pumpkin Pro Super Goop Scoop (sold separately) to scoop out the inside of the pumpkin. 2. Trace: We recommend taping the stencil onto the pumpkin surface. You may need to fold the edges to allow the flat stencil to fit properly on the round pumpkin. With a marker pen, trace each part of the stencil onto the pumpkin. 3. Carving: Using the saw, cut along the marker lines. Cut small or detailed areas first, then larger areas. Saw with an in-and-out motion, and don't force the blade. When your pumpkin is completely carved, wipe off any remaining marker lines with a wet cloth and dry the surface of the pumpkin.
