Watering: Growing beautiful orchids requires the right amount of water. Vigorous roots are white, firm and fleshy with green tips. Over-watered roots are soggy, mushy, brown and dead looking. Temperature: It's ideal to grow orchids between 55degrees and 80 degrees F. Air movement: Simple movement of the air can reduce the chance of disease and eliminate hot & cold spot formations. Potting mix: For best results, use a specially formulated potting mix, such as, Miracle-Gro® orchid potting mix. Directions for use. For orchids or other indoor acid-loving plants, mix 1/4 teaspoon of Miracle-Gro® water soluble orchid food for every gallon of water and apply every 2 weeks during active growth periods; every 4 weeks during rest periods. Water early in the day to allow time for the plants to dry. Water the container surface and roots only - not the foliage. Always use water that is room temperature or slightly warmer. Allow water to run through your potting media during watering. Can also be used on outdoor plants: Mix 1 tablespoon per gallon of water and apply generously over leaves and stem, soaking soil as far as branches extend. Apply every 2 weeks to help promote bigger, more beautiful plants.
