The story of Carr's® crackers began during the British Industrial Revolution when Jonathan Dodgson Carr set up a small bakery in the city of Carlisle, England in 1831. Carlisle is in the county of Cumbria, home of the Lake District National Park. Utilising soft Cumbrian water, local wheat flour, and traditional brick ovens, the business thrived, and even was granted a Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria in 1841.
