The E.P.T™ Preconception Health Test is an over-the-counter vaginal home test kit, to be used by women of menstruating age, to test the acidity of vaginal discharge. This test helps you easily assess your vaginal health prior to conceiving, is as accurate as a doctor's test, and is clinically proven to be effective. If you are trying to get pregnant, it is recommended that you: Take folic acid. Test for vaginal infections. Give up drinking and smoking. Over 1 in 4 women suffer from a vaginal infection that is not caused by yeast and requires a doctor's attention. While some infections have minor or no symptoms at all, an elevated pH is a sign that you have an infection. Having a vaginal infection during pregnancy such as Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) or Trichomoniasis* is a risk factor for having a premature baby. If you have a vaginal infection, visit your doctor for treatment prior to getting pregnant. *Centers for disease control and prevention.
