Use each condom only once. Store in a cool, dry place (below 100 degrees F) and avoid exposure to direct sunlight. Avoid excess heat. Should a condom be re-used the condom may be more likely to split or slip and so not provide adequate protection. You could also pass on infections via the bodily fluids present on the condom after use. Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight. For anal sex, you should use additional lubrication on the outside of the condom to help reduce the risk of the condom breaking or coming off. Always read the guidance on lube packaging before you use it. If you use personal lubricants with your condoms, take care to only use lubricants that are recommended for use with condoms. Using the Durex polyisoprene condom with a water based lubricant for e.g. Durex Play™ feel, flavored or 2 in 1 massage lubricants can enhance sex but it should not be used with some silicone based lubricants or oil-based lubricants such as petroleum jelly, baby oil and some pessaries can damage condoms, as can some topical medicines that are applied to the penis or vagina. If you're not sure about the effect of the medicines you're using on condoms, ask your doctor or pharmacist before using with a condom. How to use a condom: Handle with care. Condoms can be torn by fingernails and sharp objects such as jewelry, zippers, and buckles. If the condom is obviously damaged, do not use. Put the condom on after the penil is erect, before there is any contact between the penis and your partner's body. Fluid released from the penis during the early stages of an erection can contain sperm and organisms that can cause STD's. Lesions, pre-ejaculate secretions, semen, vaginal secretions, saliva, urine and feces can all transmit disease organisms. Before using any condom, check the expiry date on the condom wrapper. If the expiry date has passed, or the condom foil is damaged then discard that condom and use a new one from an undamaged pack. Tear the wrapper open from the serrated edge and handle the condom carefully, as it can be damaged by fingernails and sharp objects like jewelry and body piercings. 1. Either partner can put the condom on the erect penis during foreplay. Take care to do this before the penis touches the other person. This helps prevent pregnancy and the possibility of catching sexually transmitted infections. 2. Check the roll is on the outside. If it's on the inside, the condom is inside out. Squeeze the teat end of the condom so that no air is trapped inside. 3. Still squeezing the tip, place the condom on top of the penis and roll it down with your other hand. If it starts to roll back up during sex, roll it back down straight away. If you feel the condom slipping off, or stretching on the penis, stop and check, otherwise it may break. If the condom comes off, stop and put a new condom on. 4. Soon after ejaculation, and while the penis is still erect, the condom should be held firmly in place at the base of the penis before withdrawal. Then simply take the condom off, wrap it in a tissue and put it in the bin. Please don't flush it down the toilet. Should a condom break or leak during use, seek medical assistance as soon as possible, at least within 72 hrs. If you use a condom for oral sex first, you should use a new condom for any other type of sex that follows. Sometimes the lubricant on any condom or the condoms themselves can cause discomfort or irritation in either partner. If this happens, stop using them. If your symptoms continue, see a doctor.
