You need: Oven - 2 1/2 cups boiling water - 3 Tbsp. margarine or butter - 3/4 cup milk. Microwave - 2 1/2 cups water - 3 Tbsp. margarine or butter - 1 1/4 cups milk. Stove-top - 2 1/2 cups water - 3 Tbsp. margarine or butter - 3/4 cup milk. Double recipe - 5 cups boiling water - 6 Tbsp. margarine or butter - 1 1/2 cups milk. Traditional oven recipe: 1. Heat oven to 450 degrees F. Combine potato slices, sauce mix, boiling water, and margarine into ungreased 2-quart casserole dish. 2. Stir in milk. 3. Bake at 450 degrees F uncovered for 25 minutes or until potatoes are tender and lightly browned. Let stand about 10 minutes. Serve. Microwave recipe: 1. Combine potato slices, water and margarine in a 2-quart microwave-safe casserole dish. Microwave on high for 10* minutes or until potatoes are just tender. Do not drain. 2. Stir in milk and sauce mix; mix well. 3. Microwave on high for 5* minutes or until potatoes are tender. Let stand 5-10 minutes. Serve. (*Microwaves will vary. Instructions use 1100 watt microwave.) Caution: Dish and potatoes will be very hot. Steam will be present in microwave. Remove dish carefully. 20 minute stove-top recipe: 1. Combine potato slices, sauce mix, water, milk and margarine in 3-quart saucepan. 2. Heat just to boiling, stirring occasionally; reduce heat and cover. 3. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until potatoes are tender and sauce has thickened. 4. Let stand for 5 minutes. Serve. Double recipe: Use a 13x9-inch baking dish or roasting pan. Follow traditional oven recipe with 2 packages potatoes and 2 packages sauce. Bake as directed. High altitude (above 3500 feet): no change.
