With real corn flavor: Yelton's Best Style Corn Bread: 2 cups Yelton's Best Self-Rising Corn Meal. 1 egg beaten. 1/4 cups cooking oil. 1-1/2 cups milk or buttermilk. Heat oven to 450 degrees F. Grease and heat a medium iron skillet or baking pan. Combine ingredients and mix well. Pour into hot, greased pan. Bake 20 to 25 minutes. Serves 8. The extra touch: Sunday Special Corn Bread: 1-1/2 cups Yelton's Best Self-Rising Corn Meal. 2 eggs beaten. 1 (8 ounce) can creamed corn. 1/3 cup cooking oil. 1 (8 ounce) carton sour cream. 1/2 cup minced onion. 1 cup grated cheddar cheese. Heat oven to 375 degreed F. Grease and heat a 9 inch baking pan or skillet. Combine ingredients and pour into prepared pan. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Hearty Hush Puppies: 1 cup Yelton's Best Self-Rising Corn Meal. 1/2 cup Yelton's Best Self-Rising Flour. 2 tablespoons cooking oil. 1 small chopped onion. 1 egg beaten. 3/4 cup buttermilk. Heat oil to 360 (degrees). Mix all ingredients together, making a thick batter. Drop by tablespoons into hot oil. Fry to a golden brown, about 2 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Makes 15 medium hush puppies. A hearty meal: Layered Corn Bread Casserole: 1 pound ground beef. 1 tablespoon chili powder. 1/2 cup chopped green pepper. 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese. 1/2 cup chopped onion. 1 clove garlic crushed. 1 (16 ounce) can tomatoes. 1 (16 ounce) can pinto beans. Heat oven to 400 (degrees). Brown beef in skillet; drain. Add pepper, onion, garlic and chili powder. Heat to boiling; reduce heat and simmer about 2 minutes. Spoon beef mixture into ungreased 9 inch casserole. Next layer cheese, drained tomatoes and undrained beans. Prepare corn bread topping; spoon evenly over beans. Bake until golden brown, 25 to 30 minutes 6 servings. Yeltons Best Corn Bread Topping: 1 cup Yelton's Best Self-Rising Corn Meal. 1/4 cup Yeltons Best Self-Rising Flour. 1 egg beaten. 1/2 cup milk. Combine ingredients until smooth. Spoon over prepared casserole.
