Directions

Sort & Rinse: Dry beans, peas and lentils are natural agricultural food products. Despite the use of modern cleaning equipment, it is not always possible to remove all foreign material. Sort, remove foreign unwanted materials, then rinse under running water to wash away any dirt or dust. Soaking: Lentils do not require soaking. Basic Cooking Instructions: Stove Top: Rinse and drain 1 cup (250 mL) of dry lentils. Add 3 cups (750 mL) of water in a saucepan, add rinsed lentils and cover. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer uncovered until tender, approximately 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. 1 cup (250 mL) of dry lentils makes 2 cups (500 mL) of cooked lentils. Store in a cool, dry place.
