Stove Top Directions: 1. Bring water to boil in saucepan. Add butter or margarine and salt, if desired. 2. Stir in rice and reduce heat to low. Cover and cook 20 minutes. Do not remove lid or stir. 3. Remove from heat. Let stand five minutes. Fluff with fork before serving. Microwave Directions: 1. Combine 2 cups of water and 1 cup of rice in a microwave safe, covered dish. Add 2 tsp butter or margarine and 1/2 teaspoon salt, if desired. 2. Microwave on high power for 5 minutes. Stir. 3. Microwave on medium power for 15 minutes or until rice is tender. 4. Remove from microwave and let stand covered for five minutes or until water is absorbed. Cooking Measurement Chart: For drier rice, use 1/4 cup less water. For moister rice, use 1/4 cup more water. Rice 1 cup; Water 2 1/4 cups; Yield 3 cups; Serving (3/4 Cup Cooked): 4. Rice 2 cups; Water 4 1/2 cups; Yield 6 cups; Servings (3/4 Cup Cooked): 8. Rice 3 cups; Water 6 3/4 cups; 9 cups; Serving (3/4 Cup Cooked): 12. To retain vitamins do not rinse before or drain after cooking.
