Directions

Stove Top Directions: 1. Use the chart to measure. Bring to a boil. Add rice, salt, and margarine. Stir and cover. 2. Reduce heat to low and simmer 20 minutes. 3. Remove from heat. Let stand covered until all wateris absorbed (about 5 minutes). To Make: 1 1/2 cups cooked rice; 2-3 (2/3 cup serving); 1/2 cup rice; 1 1/3 cup water; 1/2 tsp salt (if desired); 1/2 tbsp butter or margarine (if desired). To Make: 3-4 cups cooked rice; 5-6 (2/3 cup serving); 1 cup rice; 2 2/1 cup water; 1 tsp salt (if desired); 1 tbsp butter or margarine (if desired). To Make: 5-6 cups cooked rice; 8-9 (2/3 cup serving); 1 1/2 cup rice; 3 1/3 cup water; 1 1/2 tsp salt (if desired); 1 1/2 tbsp butter or margarine (if desired). To Make: 7-8 cups cooked rice; 11-12 (2/3 cup serving); 2 cup rice; 4 1/4 cup water; 2 tsp salt (if desired); 2 tbsp butter or margarine (if desired). To Make: 10-11 cups cooked rice; 16-17 (2/3 cup serving); 3 cup rice; 6 cup water; 1 tbsp salt (if desired); 3 tbsp butter or margarine (if desired). For softer rice use more water and simmer longer. For firmer rice, use less water and simmer for a shorter time. Microwave Cooking Directions: Parboiled long grain white rice. Step 1. Combine 2 cups hot water, 1 cup rice, and if desired, 1 teaspoon salt and 1 tablespoon butter or margarine in a 1-quart microwave-safe casserole dish. Step 2. Cover tightly and microwave on high for 20 minutes, or until most of water is absorbed. Step 3. Remove from oven. Let stand covered, until all water is absorbed, about 5 minutes. For Best Results: A. To retain vitamins, do not rinse before or after cooking. B. For firmer rice, use less water and simmer for a shorter time. For softer rice, use more water and simmer for a longer time. C. Do not lift lid while cooking (steam cooks rice). Keep in a dry and cool place, far from direct sunrays.
