Directions

You Will Need: 1/3 cup milk, 1/4 cup oil, 1 egg. 1. Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease with shortening or spray with non-stick cooking spray one 8-inch ovenproof skillet or square pan. If using cast iron, place greased skillet in oven for 7 to 8 minutes or until hot. 2. Combine cornbread mix, milk, egg, and oil in a small mixing bowl; stir until smooth. Pour into square pan or preheated cast iron skillet. 3. Bake at 400 degrees F for 14-18* minutes or until golden brown. *Directions developed using conventional ovens. Ovens vary; baking time may need to be adjusted Double Recipe: Grease with shortening or spray with non-stick cooking spray one 10-1/2 inch ovenproof skillet or 9-inch square pan. If using cast iron, place greased skillet in oven for 7-8 minutes or until hot. Prepare cornbread mix as directed above in basic recipe using 2 packages of mix, 2/3 cup milk, 1/2 cup oil and 2 eggs. Bake at 400 degrees F for 20-25 minutes* or until golden brown. *Directions developed using conventional ovens. Ovens vary; baking time may need to be adjusted. Warning: Do not eat raw batter. Please cook fully before enjoying. Recipes & Helpful Tips: Honey Pecan Cornbread: Stir 2 tablespoons honey and 1/3 cup chopped pecans into cornbread batter. Bake as directed above in basic recipe. Jalapeno Cornbread: Prepare mix as above, add 1/4 cup of finely chopped jalapeno peppers, garnish the top with more jalapeno peppers if desired. Bake as directed above in basic recipe. Muffins And Cornsticks: Lightly spray 6 to 8 muffin cups or cornstick pan with non-stick cooking spray. If using cast iron, place greased pan in oven for 7 to 8 minutes or until hot. Prepare batter as directed above in basic recipe. Fill muffin cups or cornstick pan 2/3 full. Bake at 400 degrees F for 14 to 18 minutes* or until golden brown. Tips: For Honey Cornbread Muffins, cool for 5 minutes; gently loosen and remove from pan. High Altitude (over 5,000 feet): Prepare as directed, adding 1 tbsp all-purpose flour and an additional 2 tbsps milk. *Directions developed using conventional ovens.
